FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Islamic Association of North America (IANA) – Statement
Date: January 24, 2026

Allah says:

“Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul—unless for a soul or for corruption done in the land—it is as if he had slain all of mankind; and whoever saves one, it is as if he had saved all of mankind.”
Qur’an, Chapter 5, Verse 32

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Today, January 24, 2026, another life has been violently taken by ICE agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We extend our deepest condolences and heartfelt thoughts to the deceased and to his family during this time of immense pain and loss.

This marks the second fatality of a Minnesotan at the hands of federal agents in the month of January alone, alongside numerous other reports of human rights violations, physical harm to bystanders, and abuses against individuals being detained.

We strongly condemn these acts of violence against civilians carried out under the pretext of an immigration crackdown. These actions are reckless, inhumane, and unacceptable.

This madness must stop—immediately.

The federal government is entrusted with the duty to protect human life, not to terrorize communities or endanger civilians. What we are witnessing is a gross abuse of power and a betrayal of that responsibility.

We call for:

  • An immediate, independent, and transparent investigation into these killings and all related human rights violations
  • The full release of information to Minnesota state authorities to allow proper investigation and accountability
  • An immediate scaling down and rollback of aggressive federal actions targeting Minnesotans and their communities

We urge the people of Minnesota to continue exercising their constitutional rights to rally and protest against injustice—peacefully and responsibly.

We pray for peace, safety, and dignity for all Minnesotans, and for justice, restraint, and accountability across our nation.
