Former Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Somalia

On Thursday October 24, 2019 IANA leaders met with the former Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources of Somalia Dr. Abdirahman M. Abdi Hashi, Ph.D., CPA in Minnesota. He is an economist and a financial expert with nearly thirty years of experience working in Wall Street and the World Bank. He has received his Ph.D. in Economics.

IANA welcomed Dr.Hashi and informed him about the great work the Somali-American community is involved in every day from dawah to education to businesses. We also discussed our challenges and exchanged ideas.

Dr. Hashi gave an overview of Somalia and the Somali economy. He stressed that Somalia is moving forward and rebuilding. Dr.Hashi also extensively talked about Somalia’s petroleum potential and its side effects on the environment. He also talked about Somali agriculture, fisheries, and livestock in detail and their role in the Somali economy. Dr. Hashi encouraged everyone to go to Somalia and especially those who were educated in the west and help the country in rebuilding efforts.
