Reminder
After Ramadan comes the celebration of Eid, which Allah has placed for us Muslims to remember him and the joys of Islam. The Eid after the completion of Ramadan occurs on the first day of the month of Shawwal, the only day we are not permitted to fast in the year. This Eid is also called Eid-Al-Fitr, which translates to 'Festival of Breaking the Fast'.
With that said, some sunnah of the prophet are:
- To dress nicely and present yourself in the best manner permitted to you
- To take a bath.
- To clean the teeth with Miswaak.
- To wear the best/clean/new clothes you own
- To use perfume. (For man only)
- To rise early in the morning and pray fajr.
- To go to the Eid prayer early.
- To eat before going to the Eid prayer In Eid Al-Fittr. (Dates and milk)
- To go to the Eid gathering by one way and to come back another way.
- To recite on the way to the Eid prayer: “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha illa-llahu Wa-llahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, WA lillahil Hamd.” “Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest. There is no deity besides Allah and Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest and all praises are for Allah only.”
Here are some things to avoid in Eid
- Hugging or shaking hands with someone of the opposite gender that isn't your relative.
- For women: excessively beautifying yourself (make-up, revealing clothing, perfume)
- Overeating
- Visiting the graves
