Islamic Association of North America (IANA) is pleased to announce Eid al-Fitr to be on
Saturday, May 23rd, 2020
The Islamic Association of North America (IANA) wishes to congratulate all Muslims in
The United States and around the world with the happy occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, and
we announce as follows:
Today Friday, May 22nd, 2020 will be the 29th and final day of Ramadhan, due to the
reports that the moon has been sighted Several Muslim countries including Somalia,
Kenya, Tanzania, Somali Region in Ethiopia, and more. Therefore, Saturday, May 23rd,
2020 will be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr this year and the first day of Shawall.
We ask Allah to accept our fasting and good deeds. May this special day bring peace,
happiness, and prosperity to everyone.
Eid Mubarak. On this a great occasion, IANA also prays to Allah to lift the Coronavirus
and trials from the entire World.

Due to precaution and the effort to reduce spreading the Coronavirus and protect our community from the dangerous of COVID-19, IANA leadership has carefully evaluated the situation in our community and taken recommendations of the Minnesota Department of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Interim Guidance (CDC). We strongly urge you to take the following:
1- All IANA Mosques/Dugsi including Minnesota must stay close until further notice.
2- In complying with State’s physical distancing and social gathering restrictions and in accordance with the recommendations of the Islamic Association of North America, Eid events have been canceled. No Eid Service.

Starting after Maghrib on Saturday May 23, 2020, start making Takbeerat at home.
“Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillah-il Hamd.” Allah is great. Allah is great. There is no god but Allah. Allah is great. Allah is great. All praise is due to Allah.
How to Perform Eid Salah at home:
Eid Salah (prayer) consists of two rak’a’s (units of prayer), similar to Jumu’a prayer. In the first rak’a, before reciting Fatiha, you say “Allah Akbar” 7 times, including the first “Allah Akbar” that starts the prayer. In the second Rak’a, before Fatiha, you say “Allah Akbar” 6 times.
Zakat Al-Fitr/Fitra Reminder
Fitra is $10/person and must be paid before Eid prayers.
4- To follow the guidelines and recommendations of the Minnesota Department of Health. 5- To take all necessary mitigation strategies to educate the venerable community including older adults and chronic medical conditions to be at higher risk, and ask them to stay home until further updates.
6- The State of Minnesota directions limit gatherings to more than 10 people outside of an immediate family that lives together. Please continue to practice physical distancing during Eid!
